Advice on North Wales Adders: |

Posted: 28 Jan 2008 The post today regarding Adders has fired me up so I thought I'd ask for a bit of help. Last year I came across a small population of Adders in the Loggerheads vicinity of North Wales. I'm sure it's a known site but I literally stumbled across them whilst photographing Butterflies. Thing is it was mid to late May by the time I came across them although I did see two females which were absolutely guaranteed on every visit throughout the summer as well as another one seen on most visits. Obviously I want to go a bit earlier this year to locate other basking sites and see more then the one male I saw last year on only one visit. When should I start visiting, bearing in mind it's quite a tough uphill walk  |

Anytime now really - sunny days with the air temp over 10C and you may see them

Posted: 28 Jan 2008 Thanks for that. I've already started checking out my Grass Snake and Common Lizard sites but here in Cheshire I've never seen the former before March 4th and the latter before March 9th. |

Posted: 04 Feb 2008 I did look today but saw nothing of interest. I saw my first Zv on 3rd of March last year and my first Vb on 7th march - thats in Hampshire though. I know nothing of what its like around Wales so the best advice would be is to look and see if you see anything. The main point being that if you don't look, you won't see anything!
